Club Meeting 7th November 2016

Last night at Chaucer you could have been forgiven for thinking that we were at a comedy club there was so much laughter throughout the evening. Carol chaired the meeting and was supported at short notice by Michael and Bryan.

After recounting the very successful social evening on Guy Faulks night the meeting got underway with a guest from Thanet speakers club, Bernie Morgan, who gave a superb interactive education slot on use of humour. The session blended audience experience with her personal journey and got the evening off to a strong start. A tough act to follow!

Two speeches were delivered a showpiece from Adrian titled “going Rhino” and Josephine with a long A5 speech titled “ Riot class”.

After the break Bryan took the floor as topics chair and posed a really tough subject of abstract themes, but those speakers who stood up and presented did a great job with topics like “time”, “dimension”, and “light”  certainly raising the bar.

The evening was rounded off with evaluation of topics by Michael and the overall  evaluation was by Julie with Carol closing the evening. It was agreed that the meeting had been excellent.

Next meeting on the 21st November is our club speech competition.
