About Us

chaucer-group-oct-16

We have a broad mix of novice and experienced adult members.

We invite you to join us to learn techniques, practice skills and build confidence in communicating with groups of people. All in a friendly, supportive environment.

We offer a flexible approach based on an effective structured programme that helps every member to achieve their goals and aspirations – developing valuable skills for life’s challenges.

  • Perhaps your job requires you to discuss matters with management and staff or chair meetings.
  • Maybe you need some practice before an interview.
  • Most courses require you to give presentations.
  • Do you have to make a speech at a wedding or party? Have you been asked to read in church or talk to a local community group?

Chaucer Speakers Club can help you develop the skills and confidence you need to make these situations, and many others, less daunting and even have fun while you do it!

Meetings are structured yet informal and allow you to develop at a comfortable pace, guided and mentored by other speakers.

We also offer support in preparing for a specific presentation or speech for business or pleasure – including interview presentations and wedding speeches.

Another aspect of membership is learning the leadership skills of chairing meetings and giving supportive and constructive evaluations.

There are opportunities to take part in ASC speech and evaluation competitions at club, area, district and National level. In 2016 we had two national finalists and one, Stewart, won the impromptu speaking competition. We also compete in the Kent Hopper Cup team speaking competition.

If you don’t believe that PUBLIC SPEAKING  can ever be fun, come along and see for yourself. Laughter is guaranteed and you’ll make good friends

You are welcome to attend 3 meetings free of charge to discover how we can support you in developing your communication and leadership skills.

We’d love to hear from you.  Give us a call, drop us an email or come along and try us out.  Contact Josephine Mursoi on our contact page for more details and answers to any questions about Chaucer Speakers.

Club meetings are usually held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month from mid-September to the end of July.
