District AGM and Competition – Double Success for Chaucer!!

Congratulations on Stew and Suzanne winning the SE District topics and evaluation trophies 2016

Congratulations on Stew and Suzanne winning the SE District topics and evaluation trophies 2016

For those who have missed the fantastic news, two of our members have won in District Competitions!

Suzanne took part in the Evaluation Competition. The target speech given by Chris from West Kent – a witty recount of a safari in Zimbabwe – was then evaluated by the competitors.

The standard of responses from everyone was good, and Suzanne was able to give the speaker plenty of useful advice which the judges were especially pleased to see.

In the Impromptu Competition, the entrants were given the task of responding to the question: ‘is the grass always greener on the other side?’

Competing for Chaucer, Stewart was able to provide a 3 minute mini-speech celebrating the wonders of a well manicured lawn – as long as its well maintained by someone else whilst he enjoys the view from a deckchair!

Both Suzanne and Stewart will be speaking at the National Finals in Aberdeen in April.

Fantastic achievement for Chaucer Speakers Club to have two members representing the club at the national finals!
